Shawl & Socks.

September!
Goodness how this Summer has flown by.
I'm starting a sock knit along this month, It's a mystery knit-along so i have no idea what it will look like when i'm done. (I so enjoy these!)
So I tried to get a few of the other projects i had on my needle out of the way first.

I finished a shawl I had started for mum earlier this year, I ran out of yarn on the last 4 rows of the Shawl.  (SO annoying)
So I calmly buried it in my UFO's box, till I was ready to deal with it again.
At the beginning of the month, I stumbled across a lovely little pattern "Foamy"
(I believe this link only works if you have a Ravelry account)

And it was a dream to knit up! So fun and easy to re-design a little.

And turned out quite lovely, if i do say so myself!

And Mum's quite happy with it!
It's made out of Misti Alpaca Pima Cotton & Silk. It's so lovely and soft.

I also made a pair of socks!
(I admit to casting these on.. they weren't already on the needle)
There was a lovely little challenge i stumbled upon to knit Striped socks for August and i just couldn't resist.

I did mess up a bit with them.. I cast them on at night and accidentally picked size 1 needles instead of 2's. which made them a wee bit snug fitting..
I also didn't make the foot long enough, got impatient and did the toe.
But i love them anyway!

That's all for now hopefully back soon with another update on my Obsessions!

Lord Byron ...
Was most helpful with the picture taking.
He lazed about and watched with a critical eye.

Spring, Summer Catch up.

Goodness!
I've been bad i know... Did I REALLY last post in February?!
Here's a little bit of a catch up of my summer Crochet.
First: Filled an order for a adorable hat and ripple baby afghan.
I loved the colors so much, I bought some an made a Granny baby blanket out of them.

Then there's the random bit of left overs i made a giant granny square out of.
It was a lovely way to get rid of those scraps without chucking them!
It now graces the side table in my room.
I started the Crochet along over at Not your average crochet  It was super fun.. but I got distracted, and decided that I wanted to make it into a pillow cover!
so I stopped at this length and now it's waiting in the pile for me to weave in the ends and get it on a pillow!

AND! Finished my Random afghan with all my scraps!
It fits my Queen sized bed quite comfortably!

I've also done a bit of Embroidery, Dyeing
(with Kool-Aid!! If you haven't done it you-tube it, It's so easy and fun!)
This is two of the few dresses I've made this summer.. wasn't a summer of sewing..
This Burnt Orange was an order for a ball.
and my Bobbin lace project (which was finished and given as a present) I haven't been able to find the time to get to it this summer... hopefully be able to do more of it in the near future.

SO! Short catch up post and I'll hopefully be back next week with more recent stuff!
I'm about to do a "Sock-down" on Ravelry.
Starting in September, hoping to be able to hang on for longer than two months this year!

The Sweetheart Afghan, Ta Tah!!

Hello!
Wow! almost 6 months since I last posted! So sorry! I've had a ruff winter with sickness and such, spending most of it on the couch gave me lots of time to work on my crafts though!
One of the big things i made (and what this post will be about) was a afghan from KnitPicks Brava Sport yarn ( I highly recommend it!) I randomly picked out $50 (gulp!) worth of yarn for free shipping!
And waited for it to come in...

And when it did BOY was I happy! All the colors were perfect!
And while crocheting it up i decided it looked like Valentine's Day Candy so i named it...

The Sweetheart Afghan

But here are some photo's of it in the works first...

Lot's of movie watching went into the making of this afghan.. and watching the little bit of snow we had.

Then the plotting of the Colors and lay out as i joined them all together

And here it is without it's Edging!

And now! Here's the Ta Dah!!!!
All finished ends woven in (unless i missed a few!) and with a granny border!

The Sweetheart Afghan

Isn't it sweet?!

I'm so VERY pleased with it!
I used 20 balls of Knit Picks Brava Sport weight yarn, 2 balls of each color.

And I had quite a bit of leftovers!
Enough to make a Lucy bag...

I think these flowers were the perfect finishing touch!

Then I made three of these little owls.

and a few of these adorable tape measure covers
(I'm thinking of offering these on my Etsy shop.)
And you can sneak a peek at my new Afghan in the background there.

And! I've still got left over yarn! I'm very happy and would recommend them!
I'll be getting more.

And that's all for today! Hoping to do some catch up blogging in the next little while with the other stuff i've been working on!

Have a blessed day!

Socks and Swaps

Greetings!
Hope your all having a lovely end of summer.
We've been getting rain from Hurricane Isaac up here in Tennessee, So it's been PERFECT weather for knitting!
It's been a little cooler successfully putting me in a Sock knitting mood.
I stumbled upon a group on ravelry.com "Sock Knitters Anonymous" and there having a monthly Challenge for sock knitters who want to join! so of course i had too! and i'm having SO much fun!
I've already started stock piling sock yarn for the projects, I've ordered some on Etsy and i'm impatiently awaiting there arrival!
I started one pair of "Mystery Sock" where you get a clue every Saturday for 3 weeks so you don't know what your sock looks like till the end!
And there's beads in them! Which I've never done before and I LOVED it!

SKA Mystery Sock September 2012
Excuse the grainy picture it was taken at night with my iPhone.
But Isn't it exciting not knowing what the finished sock will look like?!

And then after starting these I was well and truly in a sock mood so i cast on another pair. The pattern is Pillars it's only available as a free download on ravelry.

Lot's of Crochet!

I'm back! and I've been busy.
Started making a baby blanket out of some yarn i got on the sale rack at Wal-Mart...
Silly me of course forgot to check the pattern to see if i had enough yarn to FINISH the blanket.
Of course I didn't.

Baby blanket
So i searched hi and low and still can't find anymore yarn like this, So i think it may have to come un-done and refashioned into a baby blanket that uses less yarn.
pattern is the Granny Stripe from Lucy at Attic24.
I'm also participating in a swap on Ravelry!
Here are the blocks i received.

And the other one.

Aren't they Pretty?!
And here are the ones i sent.
I took pictures of them before i shipped them out.. but SOMEHOW i lost the pictures so i used these that the lovely KimberlyStew on Ravelry took when they got to her.. she's a Photographer and she has some lovely work! Check her out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/KimberlyKathleenPhotography

This pattern is Squaring the big circle.
I ran across it on Ravelry.

and another On the Huh square.

I'm also in another swap, waiting on my package to arrive in the mail!!
and i also stumbled across some yummy yarns on Etsy that i bought!
Here's one.

It's a cotton that i got from this shop.
Fast shipping!

It came in a hank and this is it all wound up on my ball winder.

Then i finally used up the yarn from the fiber toss at the spinners retreat from this past February.
isn't it pretty?!

I handspun the fiber and plyed it with some other single ply, to make it go further.
As the fiber was from the toss it has all kind of different fibers mixed in.
Bamboo, Alpaca..

Then i got side-tracked by pinterest and all the lovely DIY's!
So i started making some!!

Here's the link to make these..
They didn't come out quite like i wanted. Your supposed to hang them up like a mobile.

Then i found a neat idea for a rug.. then made up my OWN way!!

This is there tutorial.
I just used lion brand homespun yarn (because i had a lot) and i finger wove it! then i used my finger to crochet it into a LONG chain then i "Sewed" it together with yarn!
going to add some more rounds hopefully tonight, it's going together really fast.
I think i'll be adding more colors seeing as how I've run out of the blue yarn.

Finally!!! I made some!! Polymer clay handles for my crochet hooks!
It was SO much fun and SO easy to do!
Just you tube it. there are some awesome video's and clay is so fun to work with.
If you notice the one on the far left has MUCH better polka dots.
trial and error!

Then we have a ball coming up the end of September, and i would like to have a new gown to wear! So i dug out some fabric i had been hording.

Beautiful isn't it?! I got this for my birthday a few years ago at Hobby Lobby.
And i never could bring myself to cut into it.
so i'm making a hoop skirt out of it.
planning on making a brown waist cincher to go with it, out of this pattern.

Please forgive the side ways picture... I can't figure out how to make it straight..
It's driving me CRAZY!!

So! That's what I've finished and what i'm working on!
I've got a few more projects i'm working on right now and i'll post pictures of those soon!
Hope you all have a happy rest of August!
