Blue Skirt & Knitted Sweater

So this is the sweater I just finished knitting, made with some AMAZING yarn my friend
got for me at a Fiber Festival which I AM going to attend this year :)
It's 65% Wool 35% Silk. It's so light I really love it for fall!
I haven't put any buttons on it yet, I really want to find some neat one. :)

It look much better on a person but .. I had no one to take a picture for me.

So, yesterday i decided my pile of things to "Re-do or Mend" had gotten quite big enough

Back view of the sweater with one of the skirts I fixed.

I got quite a bit done and fixed some skirts that I've been meaning to for a LONG time :)

Here's the skirt before.. quite puffy and uncomfortable at the waist.

Here it is after! Much better!

And here they are together!

Purple Civil war Dress (Butterick 6694)

So i finally got around to posting some picture of the dress i made for my friend, please forgive how rumpled the dress is, I was sewing in a hurry and didn't have time to iron it out.

This is what i did to lift the slight train it had.. it was SO pretty but train's are impractical for dancing.
And forgive the messy room and hall!

This was before the buttons where put on.

without the undersleeves.
I also Made myself a blue ballgown but i didn't take any pictures of the process, I'm having trouble uploading a picture of the dress's finished and us wearing them... I'll try to figure it out and get one up soon.

Knitting A Sweater

I have 3 skeins of Fishman's wool from Hobby Lobby that are begging to be made into something..
And this cloudy chilly day has gotten me in the mood to knit.
So i spent most of the morning on ravelry.com (I Highly recommend this site it has TONS of free patterns and you can save the ones you like in your "notebook")  Looking for the perfect pattern, and have narrowed it down to 5... :)

I really like this one! But i think it's more my style than moms..

I like how long this one is, and i like stockinette stitch with a border.

I like this one, but it has a bit to much lace work at the bottom, Not what i'm looking for right now.

So i'm leaning towards this one... I'll lengthen the sleeves if i make it...
So! This is what i'll be working on for the next couple days / weeks / months..

First day on the Blog

Welcome! This is my first time writing a blog! I'm really excited.. hope this works.
I really enjoy following blogs on historical sewing and such, and I decided I'd like to try sharing my trial and errors of sewing. :) It's probably take me a while to set up this whole blog so please don't give up on me :)
